Song of Sorrow

Pain, the Thief of Words,
Has numbed my tongue,
And, great master of tapestry,
It has embroidered my lips
with stitches of silence.

But words and thoughts
Resonate within me,
Bouncing on the walls of my being,
Like confused and erratic fireflies,
In the dark,
Searching for the end of the night,
The blue opening,
The flight to the Light.

While silent
To the common ear,
It is a complex symphony.
One of no tone,
that plays the music of my soul
and speaks the language of a love,
That is lost to all
But to the one heart, the soul mate
Who alone can understand.

Its relentless tune haunts
My long and moonless nights.

Its melody,
Composed of but a few notes,
Has carved one word,
In the scores of my heart,
A name,
Your name
William.
